No Sin Mis Huesos In their newest production, Iron Skulls Co continues to develop their divergent and eclectic language of movement. Interested in the influence of negative energy, the company has come to incorporate into their dramaturgy this characteristic detail, though in this work with a vastly different style than previous performances.

With a growing interest in connecting ideas present in their work to history and culture, the company looks to the past to find a similarly eclectic history in their Mediterranean heritage.

Dance is a way to bring people together, to connect and to fight for ideals. Sufi dance, Haba Nagila and traditional Spanish dances are ways in which we relive and remember our cultural history. They show the legacy left by Christian, Arab and Jewish cultures within the Mediterranean culture. Aiming to bring together their cultural history with the present, Iron Skulls Co have focused this performance around a variety of dance styles specifically relevant to the 21st century. Urban dances, as well as contact improvisation and Butoh come together in No Sin Mis Huesos to create a unique performance that revisits the past in order to come to terms with the present.

No Sin Mis Huesos was inspired specifically by the 400 year commemoration of Cervantes’ death in 1616. Focusing on the sociocultural context of Cervantes, the company found
inspiration in the great diversity of cultures which influenced the writer. Cervantes, a soldier no longer able to fight, directed his passion into his quest as a writer, an example among many of redirecting negative energy into art.

<bIron Skulls Co, based in Barcelona, is a dance collective dating back to 2012-13, though originating from the Bboying (Breakdance) group called Iron Skulls Crew, formed in 2005. Composed of dancers from several areas of Spain, it is known for its distinctive style, bringing together various disciplines, and always aiming to further the influences incorporated into their productions.

Members of the dance company come from various backgrounds including breakdance, hip hop, contemporary dance and acrobatics and they draw inspiration from various disciplines including martial arts, musical production, design and fashion. This eclectic mix of influences gives the group their distinctive style and their thirst for creative input from other disciplines gives them a wealth of avenues to explore and the knowledge necessary to implement their increasingly ambitious productions.
